Home Repair Great Lakes Community Action Partnership

The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership provides services to residents in need, including home repair, utility assistance, and community development. Founded in 1971, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping communities thrive. Its programs include Head Start preschool, senior services, and home repair. The organization also works to combat homelessness and senior concerns.

The organization also provides education programs, transportation and food to the elderly and disabled, and housing for those without a home. Their services help low-income residents pay their utility bills, make vital repairs to their homes, and keep their communities up and running. It also helps local residents maintain their neighborhoods and support their local economy.

The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership offers two different types of home repair services. The Home Repair Program offers free, basic upgrades that require no repayment. The Home Rehabilitation Program provides more extensive repairs and rehabilitation. The latter program is funded through a grant that lasts for five years and a no-interest deferred loan. The loan is repaid at the time of sale, transfer of ownership, or change of occupancy.

The Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Home Repair program is administered by the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership and provides free home repairs to eligible residents in some counties. Eligibility requirements vary based on the county in which you live. To receive assistance, you must meet income guidelines that apply to your state or municipality.
