In the past five years, the Coalition has completed repairs on more than 38,000 low-income homes in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Its 85 member organizations recruited 306,000 volunteers who served more than 7 million volunteer hours. Projects ranged from roof repairs to accessibility modifications, weatherization, room additions, plumbing and electrical work.

It provides funding, educational resources, and advocacy to help communities preserve affordable and healthy housing. Its members include businesses, nonprofits, and individuals who are working to keep the housing market affordable and safe for all Americans.
The Coalition for Home Repair has developed nation-wide programs to support this work. For example, its Advocacy Task Force provides tools and tips for advocating for more funding. Its Anti-Racism Community of Practices is dedicated to increasing diversity in home repair programs. Its Healthy Homes Affinity Group offers tips on measuring health outcomes of home repairs, and it provides resources and tools for building partnerships with healthcare systems.
The Coalition for Home Repair also provides funding for home repair networks nationwide. The organization’s services are especially important for low-income families, renters, and families affected by natural disasters. In the past year, the organization completed 556 projects and benefited from more than eight thousand volunteers. The nonprofit has been around for more than 15 years and is looking for a full-time CEO to oversee operations.
The nonprofit has worked with Lunce to qualify for assistance and was able to obtain supplemental repair funding through a Section 504 financing program and HDA’s own funds. The program helps low-income residents improve their homes so they can remain in them. However, many people find it difficult to maintain their homes and pay the bills.

This group has repaired more than one thousand homes in McDowell County and is dedicated to providing free or low-cost repairs to low-income households. Its work involves mobilizing volunteers from across the country and providing coordinated resources and grants.
Another program that provides free or low-cost home repair assistance is the USDA’s Home Repair Program. Through these programs, eligible applicants receive grants for home repairs, landscaping, and weatherization. The program is open to low-income homeowners and renters with disabilities. Additionally, the applicants must be unable to secure affordable credit anywhere else.
